Author Richard Levangie holds a black belt (nidan) in Shotokan karate and spent a decade teaching youth at the Halifax ISKF under karate masters Tony and Danny Tam. He trained through many years of migraines, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia, but eventually hung up his black belt. After many lost years, he finally got an accurate diagnosis and the neurosurgery that saved his life. It took another twelve years before he entered a dojo again to train with the Silver Cranes, a martial arts class in Nova Scotia for the over fifty crowd. He now writes books about fighters who refuse to give up, no matter how many times they’re knocked down. Red Tiger, an adult fantasy, is coming in 2026.
Sometimes life imitates art.
His previous book, Secrets of the Hotel Maisonneuve was reprinted twice. Rumer and the Red Cardinal, a YA adventure, is a work in progress.
