Nadeesha Uyangoda was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and was brought up in the suburbs of Milan Italy.

Her debut nonfiction book, L'unica persona nera nera stanza [The Only Black Person in the Room], received multiple awards, including the 2022 Premio Sila ’49 and the Premio Rapallo “Anna Maria Ortese.” It has been translated into Spanish, co-published by Esto no es Berlin and Los Libros De La Mujer Rota.

She has written on migration, sport, and literature for Al Jazeera, Open Democracy, The Telegraph, Internazionale, Vanity Fair, and La Repubblica. Uyangoda is also the creator and co-host of podcast Sulla Razza, sponsored by Juventus F.C.
