Jacobus Smede "Koos" Sinninghe Damsté was a lawyer in the Dutch East Indies (1927–1942), assistant prosecutor at the Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal (1946–47), chairman of Dutch business associations in Indonesia (1948–1954), and head of the Dutch Domestic Security Service (1955–1967).
