There are over 100,000 known species of mollusks worldwide, exhibiting an astonishing array of colors and diverse, intricate forms. As for size? They range from the giant clam—which can measure 1.5 meters in length and weigh over 200 kilograms—to shells no larger than the tip of a pen. But just how small does a shell have to be to qualify as a "mini-shell"? Generally, shells measuring around one centimeter or less are classified as mini-shells; however, a crucial prerequisite is that the specimen must be a "mature adult"—meaning it has reached sexual maturity—for this classification to apply.

This book documents approximately 403 species of mini-shells and small mollusks belonging to 56 families found in the vicinity of Taiwan's Hengchun Peninsula. Given their diminutive size, capturing clear photographs of these shells is no easy feat.
