More Details

Edited by faculty, students, and staff from the renowned writing and literature programs at the University of Iowa, the Iowa Review literary journal, published three times per year, seeks to create a worldwide conversation among those who read and write contemporary literature.

It publishes a wide range of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, translations, photography, and work in emerging forms (e.g., graphic memoir) by both established and emerging writers. Work from its pages has been consistently selected to appear in the anthologies Best American Essays, Best American Short Stories, Best American Poetry, The Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses, and The PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories.

The Winter 2011/12 issue features well-endowed sea captains and housewives, Zen weed-whacking, Venice but not Venice, once upon a time in a darkened room, and eyewitness haiku. There are poems, stories, essays, and photos by Martha Collins, George Eklund, Chris Offutt, Rebecca Lindenberg, Christopher Beckman, the winners of the 2011 Iowa Review Awards, and more.
