Blair e Julie, best school-friends from West Wales, are about to embark on their new academic life at the prestigious Harminster College. Meanwhile, in a hidden, parallel world, a war breaks out between its inhabitants - magic creatures and immortals - thus breaking an ancient equilibrium. And so the spell that had quelled the power of The Four (ancestral fallen angels), is now broken and they want to resume the apocalyptic plan which will effect both worlds. All this is unknown to the two girls, as they spend their first few days at University, dividing their time between lessons and campus parties.
But strange signs, on the limits of normality, come to break their routine: water tinged with blood, unpredicted eclipses, furious hailstorms, birds drained of life, invasions of crickets..... Thanks to an ancient book and their two small tatooes, the two girls discover that they are the only ones capable of halting this seemingly unstoppable mechanism of destruction. Along their long path of adventure, the two girls come into contact with two mysterious creatures: the amazingly appealing Ewan, a vampire on the edge of ambiguity who is on the side of “good”, if only for convenience, and the darkly mysterious Alycos, a fallen angel who was once part of the circle of “The Four”, but who now seems to be playing a double-sided game and fighting against the advent of chaos. How can you tell the difference between friends and enemies? Who can you trust?
