Cod climbed up a nearby tree and looked to the horizon, squinting like a toothless pirate who had been at sea for just the right amount of too-long. He saw a golden sliver in the brush to the north.

"Goldenmane, we ride for the north!" he hollered as he crashed down upon the janitor’s back. "I have seen the ancient hiding place of the Final Knife. Make haste, my steed!"

"Ahghagraghhhhthepainnnn," Goldenmane solemnly replied with a twinge of excitement in his voice. He dragged his broken body through the dirt northwards.

On and on they rode, Cod yipping and hooraying along the way. Goldenmane merely grunted every once in a while to Cod's dissatisfaction. Their surroundings became more humid the further they went, and a rancid smell began to congeal.

A faint sound in the distance roared again. Instead of drums and beats, however, it sounded like flutes—lots and lots of flutes.
