The factory Steve works for makes a product so secret that even those who assemble it aren’t allowed to see it. To ensure this, the factory workers must use eye drops to blur their vision before each shift and they blithely fall in line. But after Steve falls into a chasm beneath the factory floor, one co-worker’s curiosity (and furtive creativity) cannot be squelched by the temporary blindness or the ever-evolving set of rules made to keep the workers in check. When corporate headquarters reveals its plan to fill in the chasm—with Steve in it—this worker alone questions the decision and, willing to do anything to save Steve and satisfy his desire to know the truth, defies authority.
