The Encyclopedia of Fernal Affairs catalogues a fantastical Garden of the Heart inspired by 15th century Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights. The Garden is a sublime and paradisiacal place where all the wonders of the natural world from the sexual to the surreal, the visionary to the instinctive, are celebrated as fundamental joys of being alive. It is a multidimensional place where all is conscious and divinely intelligent from the animal to mineral to vegetable to the aetheric. This Garden of Delights knows no violence, no notion of original sin, no hierarchy, no fixed temporal system. The book was co-created by three artists including myself and is illustrated and written by one hundred and fourteen International artists including the iconic Ernst Fuchs, Laurie Lipton, Robert Venosa, Martina Hoffmann, Martin Withfoot, Jana Brike and many other masters of the Fantastic-Visionary-lowbrow art genre. The book is in both English and Fernalese which is a functioning, fantastical language created by artist Bruce Rimmell.
