World War III started and ended a lot faster than almost anyone could have predicted... anyone except Colm Gardner's uncle, who had secretly built a fallout shelter in the back garden of his little terraced house in Eastleigh. But Colm's uncle had died a few months before the nukes fell, and had left the house with its well-stocked Doomsday vault to his nephew, along with a set of day-by-day instructions for survival, instructions called THE SHOPPING LIST.

After managing to get into the shelter just before nuclear war destroyed the world, Colm has spent years locked in isolation, trying not to go insane. But what kind of world will he emerge into... and will it be ready for what he has become?
