Is evil born or bred?

Was I born evil or bred to be a monster?
Coldness and hatred are all I’ve ever known from my family.
I grew up believing I was only capable of wickedness.
Until her.
Neither of us will survive unscathed.
But I’ll fight my way back into her world.
I won’t be the hero; she’ll have to save herself.
I’m not the good guy. I never will be.
That’s the difference between the hero and me.
I won’t hesitate to put an end to anyone and anything that gets in my way.
I’ll do whatever it takes to hold onto her.
And if she can’t see beyond the evil I’ve battled my entire life, then I could very well turn into the monster I’ve always feared I’d become.
