Loveday Brooke is a woman employed as a detective in Victorian London, a sort of feminist Sherlock Holmes. In this short story, she must discover the connection between a Turkish princess and a missing young French woman, both of whom have attracted the attention of the princess's betrothed. Loveday uses observation and logic to discover the truth.
