Bravery at the Heart of Every Story

The quality or state of having or showing mental or moral strength to face fear or difficulty.
Merriam-Webster

Bravery isn’t always bold or flashy. Often, it’s the quiet courage we summon in everyday moments—the small, powerful decisions that shape who we become. It’s a spark that ignites self-discovery, builds resilience, and lays a strong foundation for lifelong confidence.

At Brave Kid Press, bravery is everything. We believe it's a skill, a mindset, and a muscle—one that can be nurtured from the earliest years of life. Whether it’s trying something new, speaking up, or facing an unfamiliar challenge, bravery opens doors to growth and helps children feel strong, capable, and seen.

Our books are created to support those moments—to help kids build inner strength, emotional resilience, and a belief in themselves. We’re here to show that bravery isn’t about being fearless. It’s about moving forward, even when something feels big or scary.

Meet the Author: Liz Fletcher

For Liz Fletcher, bravery isn’t just a theme—it’s the heart of her journey as a mother, artist, and author.

A lifelong creative, Liz has always been drawn to storytelling and expression. She earned her BA in Graphic Design and Fine Arts from the University of San Francisco and spent years immersed in artistic projects. But it was the birth of her first child that awakened a new purpose—one rooted in raising brave kids.

As a new mom, Liz noticed a gap in children’s literature: Plenty of books taught skills, but very few spoke to the emotional bravery required during significant childhood milestones—like potty training, trying new foods, navigating BIG emotions, or meeting a new sibling. She wanted more than just instruction for her kids. She wanted empowerment.

That vision became Brave Kid Press.

Her debut series, Louie’s Little Lessons, follows a brave little elephant as he takes on all sorts of big kid moments with heart and courage. Through Louie’s stories, Liz helps kids (and parents) see bravery in all its forms—whether it’s managing big feelings, advocating for themselves, or stepping into the unknown with curiosity.

Now a mom of four, Liz pours her lived experience into every page she writes. She’s seen firsthand how storytelling can build a child’s inner voice—and her mission is to help young readers everywhere discover that they are brave, too.

Why Bravery Matters

Bravery is more than a moment—it’s a mindset. When we teach kids to lean into change, speak their truth, and believe in themselves, we’re not just preparing them for childhood—we’re equipping them for life.

Through every book, every lesson, and every Louie adventure, Liz Fletcher is making one thing clear:

Bravery belongs to everyone—and it starts in the stories we tell.**
