Mikaela Nykvist is a Finnish-Swedish author of historical fiction whose novels explore war, family, resilience and hidden histories along the Nordic coast.

She is the author of the Wasa Series, a multi-generational story set in Finland beginning in the aftermath of the Great Fire of Vaasa. Her books have been published in Swedish and translated into both Finnish and English.

Her historical fiction also includes the Montelius Series, following lives shaped by conflict, survival and changing times in Northern Europe, as well as standalone novels inspired by Nordic history and culture.

Alongside her writing, Mikaela has worked in project management and development roles connected to Finnish industry and innovation projects.

She lives in Ostrobothnia, Finland, where the landscapes, history and coastal culture of the North continue to inspire her writing. She is currently working on new historical fiction inspired by World War II and the Nordic region.

Some of her English-language historical fiction is published under the pen name Mica Newgren.
