Karel Van Isacker S.J. was een Vlaams jezuïet, priester en historicus. Hij was de broer van Frans Van Isacker. Na het voleindigen van de humaniora bij de jezuïeten in Aalst, ging hij rechten studeren in Namen. In 1933 trad hij toe tot de orde der jezuïten. Hij studeerde filosofie en theologie, en vanaf 1941 geschiedenis aan de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. In 1945 werd hij priester gewijd.
Van september 1949 tot juni 1950 was hij hoofdredacteur van De Vlaamse Linie, het jezuïetenweekblad.
In september 1950 werd hij docent hedendaagse geschiedenis en Belgische geschiedenis aan de Handelshogeschool St.-Ignatius.
In 1954 promoveerde hij in Leuven tot doctor in de Wijsbegeerte en Letteren, afdeling Moderne Geschiedenis, en vanaf 1965 tot 1983 was hij gewoon hoogleraar aan de Ufsia (Universiteit Antwerpen).

Karel Van Isacker was a Flemish Jesuit priest and historian. He was the brother of Frans Van Isacker. After he finished secondary school at the Jesuits in Aalst, he went to study law in Namur. In 1933 he joined the order of the Jesuits. He studied philosophy and theology, and from 1941 on history on the Catholic University of Leuven. In 1945 he was ordained a priest.
From September 1949 to June 1950 he was editor in chief of De Vlaamse Linie, the Jesuit weekly.
In September 1950 he became a lecturer in contemporary history and national history on the College St. Ignatius.
In 1954 he received his PhD Philosophy and Letters from the University of Leuven, Department of Modern History, and from 1965 to 1983 he was a professor at the Ufsia (University of Antwerp).
