Archibald Bittner began his career in the 1920’s as an editor for general fiction magazines. Recreating himself as Wayne Rogers he began to write in the subgenre of horror fiction called “weird menace” in popular pulp fiction magazines of the 1930’s and early 1940’s. He wrote to the extreme for the time period with excesses of violence, sadism and sexual innuendo. He also wrote under the pseudonyms Conrad Kimball and H.M. Appel.
