A specialist on the rule and government of England Normandy from the tenth to the twelfth centuries, Mark Hagger is a Reader in the School of History, Welsh History and Archaeology at Bangor. He was awarded his Ph.D. by the University of St Andrews in 1998, and after a period as a solicitor in the City of London, he worked as an assistant on a project to edit the charters and writs of Henry I (1100–1135).
