Anchee Min (Chinese: 閔安琪) is a memoirist and novelist.
At age seventeen, she was sent to a labor collective, where a talent scout for Madame Mao's Shanghai Film Studio recruited her to work as a movie actress. She moved to the United States in 1984 to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she obtained both B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees. Her first memoir,
