Qazi Imdadul Haq was a distinguished poet, essayist, and novelist born in 1882 in the Khulna district. Throughout his professional life, he dedicated himself to education, serving as a teacher and teacher-trainer before eventually becoming the first Secretary of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka. Beyond his administrative and pedagogical roles, he was a prominent intellectual figure and a regular contributor to influential magazines such as Bharati and Nabanur.

His literary career was marked by a diverse range of works, beginning with his first published poetry collection, Ankhijal (1900). His notable bibliography includes:

- Essays: Moslem Jagater Bigyan Charcha (1904) and Prabandhamala (Volume I in 1918; Volume II in 1916).
- Children's Literature: Nabi Kahini and Kamarer Kando (1919).
- Unpublished Works: Latika (1903).

His magnum opus, the novel Abdullah (1933), remains his most significant contribution to Bengali literature. Haq was able to complete the first 30 chapters of the novel before his untimely death in 1926 in Kolkata. To ensure the completion of this vital social portrait, Anwarul Kadir authored the remaining 11 chapters, guided by the original drafts left behind by Haq. Together, these works solidify his reputation as a writer who balanced creative artistry with a deep commitment to social reform.
