In Arabic: حفيظ بوعزة, ḥafīẓ būʿazza. Moroccan-Dutch writer, born in 1970 in the Moroccan city Oujda. In 1977 he emigrated to the Netherlands. He grew up in Arkel, and studied Arabic languages in Amsterdam. He won the Amsterdamprize for the Arts 2003. He published De voeten van Abdullah, Momo, Een beer in bontjas, Salomon en Paravion (which won De Gouden Uil 2004, and was nominated for the ako Literatuurprijs).
Bouazza published translated poetry on the weblog Loor Schrijft. Bouazza was known for his critical view on islam. Journalist Hassnae Bouazza (1973) is his sister.
